What is Newslink?

Newslink contains articles and images from SPH newspaper publications. Note that it can only search two years at a time by selecting the date range. By default, it provides results from the current two years. 

If Newslink prompts you for a username/password when you are downloading articles, please do these steps:

  1. Click this URL: https://tp-library.idm.oclc.org/logout
  2. Click on the Newslink hyperlink above.

From the Library A-Z e-resources listing, click on Newslink.

SPH publications that are available in Newslink:

  • Berita Minggu
  • Comma
  • Friday Weekly
  • Lianhe Wanbao
  • Lianhe Zaobao
  • My Paper
  • Shin Min Daily News
  • STEP
  • Tabla
  • Tamil Murasu
  • The Business Times
  • The New Paper
  • The Straits Times
  • Thumbs Up
  • Thumb Junior

Exclusions

These exclusions are not available in Newslink:

  • Articles from news agencies such as Reuters, AP, AFP, etc. 
  • Classified advertisements
  • Company announcements
  • Obituaries
  • Special marketing supplements
  • Tenders & Notices

Basic Search

Enter search term(s) in the search box at the top of the page and click Search. Newslink automatically shows related articles from all SPH publications above from the current 2 years. If you are looking for articles older than the current two years, either use Advanced Search to indicate the date range, or use Nexis Uni

By default, the results list is sorted by relevance. To see the latest article, sort the results by date descending.

Advanced Search

For Advanced Search, click on it beside the search bar.

  1. Select from a list of publications available
  2. Select publication date range
  3. Enter the search term and format
  4. Enter the section [optional]
  5. Submit

Downloading the Article

In the result list, there are 3 ways you view the article. In this example, the article is available in text and PDF. (Note the symbols)

Clicking on the article title will show you the text article (without images). If you click on page A4 or the thumbnail, the PDF of the page will be automatically downloaded to your PC.

If Newslink prompts you for a username/password when you are downloading articles, please do these steps:

  1. Click this URL: https://tp-library.idm.oclc.org/logout
  2. Click on the Newslink hyperlink again

Your results list and refining your search

On the left side panel of your results list, you can refine your results by:

  • Date Range
  • Company
  • Section
  • Publication

This comes in useful when you have a specific article in mind that you are looking for. Click on MORE to refine.

What do the symbols mean?

In your results list, a symbol appears next to the headline. But what does it represent? It refers to the format that the article is available in.

  •  stands for PDF version
  •  stands for text article 
  •  stands for online version.
